External Cable

An External Cable is a long cable that runs from the Touchscreen Controller directly to your PC/device. The advantage is that it is all one cable which is always kept with your unit with less connection points to go wrong.
This kind of cable may not be suitable if you require the cable to be changed for any reason as you would always need to go inside your unit to make any changes.

An Internal Cable is a cable that runs from the Touchscreen Controller to a receiving connector which can then be attached to the chassis of your Touchscreen Display.
You can then use a standard USB/Serial interface cable to bridge the connection to your PC externally.
The advantage to this is that you can easily replace the interface cable should it ever be damaged as you will not need to open the unit and the cables are readily available from most suppliers.

Example: An Internal USB cable coming from Controller and meeting the Interface cable to complete connection to PC
